Tomás' Story
Eight years ago, my husband, Tomás, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. This condition is a degenerative condition, so it requires medication every three or four hours to control involuntary movements, tremors and muscle stiffness. Over the years, his body has resisted the drug treatment that was initially given to him. On medical recommendation, he has to use a medication that, due to its high cost, we could not obtain, and his condition deteriorated. In June 2025, we turned to the HealthWell Foundation to help us acquire the medicines, since health insurance did not cover it completely. To our surprise, we received the news that the Foundation would support us with a grant. We give thanks to the HealthWell Foundation because through your help my husband was able to acquire his medications, and his quality of life has improved.
