I am writing this note with an overflowing grateful heart. My husband was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in December 2022. God blessed us with 3 years of no treatment needed, until November 2025, when it was determined that he required treatment and medication. To our dismay, we discovered that the medication was over $15,000 a month, one pill, twice a day. We are both in our early 70’s, retired and on Medicare. We pay for supplemental insurance and would have to pay out-of-pocket far more than we would be able to for this medication.  

A good friend at our church told us about HealthWell and the wonderful service you offered her husband when he had a life-threatening illness that was very expensive to treat. I applied for the grant for my husband and was soon informed by a wonderful, kind, and considerate person on your staff that he was accepted. What a blessing!  

Then, we were given the run around for over 2 hours on the phone with our prescription insurance provider saying it was an expensive medication, and they didn’t think they would be able to fill the prescription. It just took a call from the pharmacy to HealthWell and the medication was all paid for and on its way to be delivered to us. Our insurance provider was required to make the payment for the medication and HealthWell covered our copay!  

I can’t even explain the relief and thankfulness we felt! My husband has been on this medication for 6 months and his condition has greatly improved, although he still has a long way to go. I just wanted to convey how blessed and thankful we are for the wonderful, kind, and helpful staff working in your organization and how your agency impacted both of our lives in such an immense way. We are so grateful for your work and the assistance you give in helping sustain a meaningful life for so many! God Bless You!
