Karen J.'s Story

I wanted to write to you and tell you how treatment and the Foundation have changed my life, from being in a wheelchair to being able to walk and enjoy life with my family. ​

Vacations and walking in the neighborhood are so much fun and having friends to have lunches with are so, rewarding. I can breathe again, walk distances with my husband when he walks the dog, and walk into a restaurant. While I was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, from a routine echo in 2024, my cardiologist has changed my day-to-day activities with the HealthWell Foundation and grant. Thank you for this life-changing grant which allows me to have a life at 68. Since it is a hereditary condition, hopefully, I will live longer than my mother and maternal grandfather who we now think may have had this condition.​
