GERMANTOWN, Md. — April 5, 2016 — The HealthWell Foundation®, an independent non-profit that provides a financial lifeline for inadequately insured Americans, today announced that it now offers instant pharmacy cards for its pharmacy card funds. This enhancement applies to all HealthWell pharmacy card funds with the exception of the Cystic Fibrosis Fund. The process for that fund remains unchanged.

This new enhancement, resulting from HealthWell working closely with a leading provider of pharmacy benefit solutions, allows pharmacy claims to be run at the point of grant approval. Grant recipients will have immediate access to medications upon approval of their grant.

With this new offering, providers are now able to apply for grants within the HealthWell portal and have pharmacy cards activated in real-time. For a full list of HealthWell’s disease funds, visit the Diseases and Medications page.

“Everything we do at HealthWell is centered on the patients we serve,” said Krista Zodet, HealthWell Foundation President. “We’ve made tremendous strides over the past few years to use technology and automation to streamline our process to get grants to patients quickly and efficiently. These newly implemented services offer patients and stakeholders ease, speed, and convenience.”
